If you mention MSU Denver (or "Metro") to a high schooler in the suburbs, you usually get a shrug and a comment about it being a "commuter school." The implication? That it’s basically 13th grade—a place where you go to class, avoid eye contact, and head back to your parents' basement in Arvada or Aurora.

While students at DU or CU Boulder are paying for "the experience" (and the massive debt that comes with it), Metro students are often working 20–30 hours a week in the city they’re actually studying in. Is there a "Greek Row"? No. Will you struggle with the $15-a-day parking at the 7th Street Garage? Yes. But the trade-off is the Auraria campus energy. You’re sharing a 150-acre downtown triangle with CU Denver and CCD. It’s the most diverse, "city-vibe" campus in the state.
